Tattoo process

  • +- Book a drawing appointment. A drawing appointment usually takes about 20 minutes. We sit down together and talk about your ideas. We discuss what kind of style you'd like, make a sketch and from there I’ll start drawing. Before the tattoo appointment we also discuss the price and placement of the tattoo. After the drawing appointment, we can schedule a date for the actual tattoo. (We usually ask for a deposit of €50)

+- Before we start - You’ll fill out the consent form before we start. After that we will dubbelcheck the design, make final changes if needed and print stencils in a few sizes. We pick the right size and fit it on you. Once you are satisfied with the placement we will let it dry for 5-10 minutes, and we are good to go!

+- Throughout the appointment - We will always take our time, and carefully adjust to your own pace and pain tolerance. There's always time to have a break, have some lunch or simply just to stretch.

  • 1. The Initial Phase

    • Leave the bandage on: Leave the foil on till the next morning.

    • The first wash: After you take off the foil, clean your tattoo with neutral soap and warm water. (make sure the soap doesn’t contain any parfume or alcohol.) Rinse it under the faucet, and pat it dry with a paper towel.

    2. The Healing Phase (Days 1–14)

    • Applying cream:
Start applying a thin layer of Tattoomed cream 24 hours after you took of the foil.
When using Bepanthen cream read this

Pro Tip: If the tattoo looks "wet" or shiny after moisturizing, you’ve used too much. Blot the excess off.

    • Wash 2–3 times daily: Keep it clean, especially if you’ve been sweating or in a dusty environment.

    • Hands off: It will itch. It will peel like a sunburn. Do not pick or scratch. Picking scabs can pull the ink out, leaving permanent gaps in the design.

    3. The "Absolute No-Nos"

    • No Submerging: No baths, hot tubs, or swimming (pools/ocean) for at least 2–3 weeks. Showers are fine, but don’t shower too hot or too long in the first few days.

    • No Direct Sunlight: UV rays are the enemy of fresh ink. Keep it covered with clothing. Once it's fully healed, use SPF 50+ religiously.

    • No Tight Clothes: Avoid friction on the area while it's scabbing.

    • No exercising. Public gyms are full of germs. The combination of germs + sweat in a warm environment can (in worst case) cause the wound to get infected.

    3. Touch up

    • After 6 weeks you can determine if any touch ups are needed. → If some of the lines are lighter in color or if a scab left a gap in the tattoo.

When to Call the Artist (or a Doctor)

While some redness and swelling are normal for the first 48 hours, keep an eye out for:

    • Extreme pain or spreading redness.

    • Yellow or green discharge.
